We are seeking someone to manage the entire accounting process for a dynamic insure-tech start-up in the retirement services industry. This will be the first dedicated accounting and finance hire and will have oversight over all related functions. As such, there will be enormous opportunity for growth and development. The role will require the traditional skill sets of attention to detail and precision expected in an accountant, but also requires the common sense, agility and flexibility to work in demanding entrepreneurial culture. This is not a remote position.
Duties and Essential Job Functions
Perform all functions related to month-end close and accounting operations
Establish accounting policies and systems and building the accounting team as the company grows
Oversee transactions related to the general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll and financial reporting
Coordinating, preparing, and reviewing monthly reports
Ensuring a smooth audit process by creating and maintaining internal controls as well as streamlined record keeping.
Coordinating tax reporting and preparation of tax returns with outside tax accountants
Leading financial planning, budgeting, and reporting and creating and maintaining budgets and forecasts
Assist senior executives in planning, budgeting, and results management
Skills and Requirements
8-10 years of related experience
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
Strong knowledge of GAAP
Strong excel skills
Familiarity with SAGE Intacct preferred
Strong oral and written communication skills
